H. Tia Juana Malone, born October 7, 1951, in Waycross, Georgia, is an accomplished educator, advocate, and community leader. She is the second of six children born to John S. Malone II, a paralegal and international legislative advocate, and Mrs. Battle-Malone. Tia Juana attended Phyllis Wheatley Elementary and graduated from Bailey Street Center High School in 1969.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Albany State University and her Master of Arts in English from Northeastern University in Boston. Tia Juana’s career and passion for global education led her to impactful roles, including working with Women in Development in Kenya, teaching in Nigeria through Teach For Africa (TFA), and participating in cultural tours in Senegal and Ghana, further enriching her cross-cultural understanding.
An active member of various organizations, she contributes to the Southern Farmers Collaborative Group (SFCG) and Albany Cares Group, embodying her dedication to community development and global engagement.
